Alabama Marks National Preparedness Month with Events to Help Citizens “Be Ready”

MONTGOMERY - Although the hurricanes churning in the Atlantic pose no threat to Alabama at this time, Governor Bob Riley is encouraging Alabamians to remember that September is National Preparedness Month, a time when they need to plan for disaster.

“Alabama citizens need to be informed and be ready in case of an emergency. That means listening to warnings and announcements, having a family communications plan and an emergency supply kit already put together so it’s there when you need it,” Governor Riley said.

Hallie BlunckMs. Hallie Blunck, MD/MPH student in the School of Public Health, will be racing in the Dextro Energy Triathlon ITU World Championships on September 12th in Budapest, Hungary. The week/weekend consists of world championship races for a number of distances: aquathon (swim/bike ); sprint distance; olympic distance; paratriathlon.
