Internships - The IMPACT Program  

The South Central IMPACT Program (Interns and Mentors Program for ACTion in Public Health Preparedness) provides graduate students an opportunity to develop public health skills while assisting state and urban health departments in their efforts to assure a fully prepared public health workforce for the future. The SCCPHP solicits internship proposals from state and local public health agencies in the partnership and invites applications from graduate students from the universities in the region.

  • Interns are placed for twelve weeks in state health departments in Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana and Mississippi and urban health departments in Birmingham, Mobile and New Orleans.
  • A stipend of $5,625 is paid for each 12-week internship.
  • Eligibility: Graduate students from universities in Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana and Mississippi with an interest in public health preparedness are encouraged to apply.
