Dr. Inmaculada (Chichi) Aban joined the Department of Biostatistics at UAB in August 2004. She is a member of the Section on Research Methods and Clinical Trials. She received her doctorate degree in Mathematics with a concentration in Statistics and Masters in Applied Statistics from Bowling Green State University. Her undergraduate degree in Statistics is from the University of the Philippines (Diliman, Quezon City). Before she joined UAB, she was a faculty member of the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Nevada, Reno.

She has considerable experience in clinical studies and statistical methodology research. Her current research interests are statistical methods in clinical trials, survival and reliability analysis, analysis of pool screening and count data, goodness-of-fit and model diagnostics, and inference for heavy tail distribution.
