AHERA PROGRAMS
The Center's AHERA programs have received approval through the EPA. The courses are designed to meet the training requirements for inspectors and managers under the Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act (AHERA) and EPA's new Model Accreditation Plan (MAP), finalized February 3, 1994. The EPA's Asbestos School Hazard Abatement Reauthorization Act (ASHARA) requires asbestos response action in public or commercial building completed according to EPA's MAP. ASHARA defines "public and commercial buildings" as all building other than schools and apartment buildings with fewer than 10 units.
In addition to EPA requirements, state accreditation programs may require additional training or qualifications. Please check with the state agency that is responsible for asbestos accreditation in your state for information on local requirements.
