Gwendolyn Hudson is a third year PhD student in the School of Public Health Department of Environmental Health Sciences. Her degree focus is Environmental Management and Policy. The proposed research topic submitted for the Pilot/Small Projects Trainee Award is entitled "Population Monitoring in Radiological Emergencies: Views of Public Health Professionals." This pilot project investigates the perceptions and concerns of health professionals on their roles in performing population monitoring following a radiological event. This innovative topic is currently on the minds of government health officials as the CDC has recently drafted guidelines for radiological population monitoring. Ms. Hudson has also previously worked as a public health professional in the states of Florida and Alabama which allows her to relate to the population in question.
