Overview:
This one day workshop will provide a brief history of respiratory protection, standards and guidelines (ANSI, OSHA, NIOSH). Elements essential to an effective fit testing program will be covered. An emphasis is placed on respirator fit testing during hands-on session with qualitative and quantitative fit testing equipment. Participants will participate in sessions solving fit testing problems.

Scholarships Available:
This program was developed with support from the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Public Health Service, US Department of Health and Human Services. Scholarships are available to personnel from state and local health and environmental agencies needing training on respirator fit testing related to hazardous substances response. - The Deep South Center for Occupational Health and Safety is an approved provider of the AL Board of Nursing, (ABNP0420, expires 01/03/2015) and has awarded: Respirator Fit Testing Workshop 6.0 contact hours.
- ABIH Diplomates will calculate their own Category 4 - Educational CM points. A Diplomate will no longer need a CM approval number from ABIH (in order to list an event on a CM worksheet).

Bill Davis, Director of Industrial Hygiene, at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Bill has worked in the

The Respirator Fit Testing Workshop will be held at the Hampton Inn Eagle Point, 6220 Farley Court, Birmingham, AL 35242, 205-981-0024. For the convenience of our participants, blocks of sleeping rooms have been made at the hotel where the programs will be held. The group block is listed under “UAB DeepSouth 2011”. Tutition Fee is $125. Registration fees must be received in advance. This includes instructional and reference materials. Make checks payable to University of Alabama at Birmingham.
Limited number of scholarships (registration fee is waived) available for individuals from state and local government agencies. Please contact the Deep South Center for OH&S for additional information on scholarships.
Cancellation Policy: If the workshop is cancelled, the Deep South Center for OH&S cannot be held re-sponsible for travel expenses. Refund requests must be made in writing 2 weeks prior to course. A 20% processing fee will be deducted.
