Hazadous Material Workshop

Course Description:

This course will educate participants on the handling of hazardous materials. We will conduct an interactive training session on different case studies that occur in real workplace experiences. Participants will gain a basic understanding of hazardous materials, and an understanding of the laws, regulations, and standards on the transport and management of hazardous materials. The student will be able to identify the characteristics of hazardous materials, labels, placarding and signage requirements and to implement an effective action plan for basic scene decisions on hazardous materials. Students will test their understanding of the subject using hands-on activities and be given the option of taking the DOT required test at the conclusion of the course.


Who Should Attend:
Employees who need DOT training (2 year training requirement), health and safety managers, shippers, drivers, safety committee members, supervisors, trainers, employees who want to obtain information about hazardous materials used at their respective workplaces.

John R. Moore III is president of Control EHS. He has a proven record as an effective leader and trainer in health and safety. John is a Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), and an OSHA authorized trainer (General Industry and Construction). He has over 20 years of experience applying Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) applications in a variety of industries.

For the convenience of our participants, blocks of sleeping rooms have been made at the hotel where the programs will be held. The room rate is $107.00 night/includes full breakfast. The cutoff date for this room rate is May 17, 2017.

Professional Points:

The Deep South Center for Occupational Health and Safety is an approved provider of the Alabama Board of Nursing (ABNP0420, expires 01/03/2019) and has awarded the Respiratory Protection w/ Fit Test Training Program 7.2 contact hours.

For all others, the Deep South Center for OH&S provides CEU's for the Hazardous Materials Awareness Workshop .6 contact hours.
