The Center would like to Congratulate the following graduate students:

Ashley H. Pearce was awarded the Erwin Tichauer Award for the best student ergonomics presentation given at the American Industrial Hygiene Conference and Exposition in Portland, Oregon. Ashley is a recent (May 11) graduate of our Deep South ERC Occupational Safety & Ergonomics Program at Auburn University. Her winning presentation was titled: "A Case Study of Proposed Enhancements to the AIHA Ergonomic Assessment Toolkit."

The Tichauer award is named after Dr. Erwin R. Tichauer, Sc.D. who is commonly recognized as the founder of modern occupational biomechanics. The award is administered by the Ergonomics Committee of the American Industrial Hygiene Association.

Note: This is the 2nd consecutive year that one of our Deep South ERC OSE students has won this award. Tami Blackwell won it last year.

Shaun Crawford, CIH, MSPH sucessfully presented his final Defense of Dissertation titled:

"Characterization and Modeling of Styrene Emission from a Themoset Composite Material"

Ken Dillon Award

The Ken Dillon Award is presented annually by AIHA’s Biosafety and Environmental Microbiology Committee in honor and memory of Dr. Ken Dillon, a former member of the committee, an AIHA fellow, and the principal instructor for several years of the top ten PDC “Prevention, Determination, and Remediation of Biological Contamination in Indoor Environments”

The Award recipient is S. Funk, S. Reynolds, J. Volckens, Colorado State University, Fort Collins, CO; S. Dowde, Research andTesting Laboratory, Lubbock, TX; M. Nonnenmann, University of Texas, Tyler, TX

For her pilot study, Evaluation of Seasonal Ventilation Changes and Their Effect on Ambient Dust, Endotoxin and Bioaerosol Concentrations in a Dairy Parlor.

The award, which entails a plaque and honorarium, is made to the best student poster presented at AIHce on a topic germane to the areas of Biosafety and Environmental Microbiology
