2013 AHA Heart Walk It’s time to support the local American Heart Association’s Heart Walk. The UAB SOPH did a wonderful job last year with fundraising and participation and this year we will do even better! The Heart Walk will be held on Saturday, June 22, 2013 at the new Uptown Entertainment District (near the Westin Hotel). Festivities will begin at 7:30am and the walk/run (5K or 1 mile option) will begin at 8:30am. Family members and friends are welcome.
In Memoriam On Tuesday, May 14, the School of Public Health lost a cherished friend and colleague with the passing of Dr. Michael Foster. Dr. Foster was a professor in the Department of Health Care Organization and Policy; he joined the School in 2011 from UNC Chapel Hill and was recently awarded the Distinguished Faculty Investigator Award. He was an outstanding collaborator, teacher, mentor, and colleague, who will deeply missed by us all.

It may be genetic - Tiger Study offering fall courses The Training Interventions and Genetics of Exercise Response (TIGER) study, led by UAB geneticist Molly Bray, Ph.D., with support from the School of Public Health and School of Medicine, features two classes to be offered this fall: PE 133 and HE 222.
