Dr Katholi has a Ph.D. in Mathematics. His primary appointment is as Professor of Biostatistics in the School of Public Health. He has secondary appointments in the Department of Mathematics and the Department of Computer and Information Sciences. He teaches courses in Numerical Computing, Linear Algebra and Matrix Theory, Topics in Applied Mathematics, Computationally Intensive Statistical Methods, Large Sample Statistical Theory, Sampling and Data Management and Analysis. He has extensive experience in conducting long term longitudinal studies. His current research interests are in computationally intensive statistical methods, B-Spline models in data analysis , particularly for modeling growth behaviors and in asymptotic approximations to distribution functions. In addition he collaborates as a statistical researcher throughout the University of Alabama at Birmingham and as a statistical consultant to research projects at other universities.
