Dr. Alexander has extensive experience in nutritional epidemiology, health research methodology, particularly in the conceptualization, design, analysis, and interpretation of epidemiologic studies and has published on a diverse range of topics and types of studies, including original epidemiologic research, qualitative reviews, and quantitative meta-analyses. Dr. Fogel is best known as one of the original proponents of cliometrics, the application of quantitative methods to the study of economics and history. In recent years, his research has focused on the economics and biodemography of aging as related to nutrition. He received the Nobel Prize in economics in 1993 and was recognized as the Indispensible Person of the Year for Health Research by the Alliance for Aging Research in 2006.
