Application
Procedure
Three
to four institute sessions are scheduled each project year,
which runs from October to September. Approximately 3 months
before each session, a letter inviting applications
is sent to the person designated by each state as
the Maternal and Child Health Director and
the person designated by each state as the Children
with Special Health Care Needs Director. These individuals
are those identified on the most current Association of MCH
Programs membership list as the primary MCH and CSHCN contacts.
Most spaces are awarded to applicants on a first come-first
served basis until the session is full. Past institutes typically
have been filled within 2-3 weeks.
To
accommodate states whose travel approval procedures limit
their ability to respond rapidly, there are two options.
First, if the internal travel approval process is lengthy,
an application may be submitted with the "pending travel
approval" box checked to indicate that approval has not
yet been granted. These individuals may then contact us by
phone as soon as travel has been approved or denied. Second,
we hold several places open, which we will fill with applicants
from states that historically have been under-represented
at the training sessions, or with individuals who have applied
previously but have been placed on waiting lists.
Application
forms are available only through state Title V Directors.
