Sally Fogerty currently serves as the Assistant Commissioner of the Massachusetts Department of Public Health's Bureau of Family and Community Health. The Bureau of Family and Community Health is the State Title V Maternal and Child Health Agency, and administers the Massachusetts WIC program, Part H of the I.D.E A. (formerly P.L. 102-119), Healthy Start; Family Planning Services; Early Intervention Services; case management for the Medicaid Home Care Waiver program; Women's Health programs, including the Rape Crisis Centers, Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner Program, and Cervical & Breast Cancer Initiative; Violence and Injury Prevention programs; School Health programs; adult and elder health services.

Ms. Fogerty has been involved in the integration of preventive strategies into the established medical service system to promote the development of a comprehensive system of care for mothers, children, and elders. She also supported the initial regionalization of perinatal and pediatric services, including the establishment of statewide standards and regulations to improve infant mortality and morbidity. As the MCH Director for the State of Massachusetts from 1981-1986, Ms. Fogerty worked to establish state WIC funding and Healthy Start, a prenatal care program expanding coverage for prenatal care. Currently she is involved in the state implementation of SCHIP and the development of a follow-up program for families transitioning off TAFDC.

In 1986, Ms. Fogerty assumed the Executive Directorship of Elder Services of Cape Cod and the Island, expanding her expertise and knowledge of another high-risk population and its service system. During this time she continued her involvement in the MCH Leadership Institute, serving on task forces and advisory boards related to MCH, housing and elder issues, and providing consultation to states and other agencies pertaining to the development and evaluation of MCH programs.

Ms. Fogerty is an active member of the Association of Maternal and Child Health Programs. Before assuming her current position of President, she formerly served as President Elect, Secretary and Vice Chair of the Program and Policy Committee and Region 1 Councilor.
Ms. Fogerty received her BSN (1967) from the University of Wisconsin and MEd (1982) in public administration from Cambridge College.
