The established overall minimum requirements for admission are:
- A bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
- MPH or equivalent degree
Biostatistics
PhD - Master’s Degree Required
Environmental Health
PhD - Master’s Degree Required or must complete MSPH course requirements
Epidemiology
PhD - MPH or Equivalent Degree Required
Health Behavior
PhD - MPH or equivalent Degree Required
Health Care Organization and Policy
DrPH (Public Health Management)
DrPH (Maternal and Child Health Policy)
DrPH (Outcomes Research)
MPH or equivalent Degree required for all concentrations.
- A minimum GPA of 3.0. International transcripts must be submitted to World Education Services (WES) or Educational Credential Evaluators (ECE) for an official course-by-course credential evaluation (document-by-document evaluations will not suffice).
- A recommended GRE score on the new revised GRE of 156 on the verbal and 146 on the quantitative sections. GRE exams taken prior to August 1, 2011, a minimum score of 1100 with a minimum of 550 on both the verbal and quantitative sections. The analytical writing minimum is variable by department preference. Both the score and the percentile on all sections of the GRE will be evaluated.
- DrPH applicants may submit an MCAT in lieu of the GRE.
- PhD applicants must provide a GRE.
- Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), minimum 550 (PBT), 213 (CBT), 79-80 (IBT) or
- International English Language Testing System (IELTS), minimum 6.5
- Other aspects of an applicant's record, such as educational achievement, professional experience and clarity of career goals are helpful in determining admissibility. Generally admissions decisions are based on an overall assessment of the adequacy of an applicant’s preparation and desire for the successful completion of graduate study in the degree track selected in the School of Public Health. Each department may request to consider exceptions or set additional requirements for admission. Refer to individual department descriptions for details.
