Master of Public Health ( International Health and Global Studies)

The School of Public Health offers a Master of Public Health degree option in International Health and Global Studies (IHGS) through four of our academic departments.  Students apply to either Environmental Health, Epidemiology, Health Behavior or Maternal and Child Health and indicate their interest in the IHGS track.

Admission requirements for the IHGS tracks are the same as for all other MPH degree programs.  The curriculum includes the MPH Core (BST 600, ENH 600, EPI 600, HB 600, HCO 690 and MCH 610) which includes an Integrative Experience that is required of all MPH students.  Students in the IHGS tracks must also complete a required IHGS core curriculum consisting of MCH 617: Global Health, Principles and Practice, MCH 608: Project Planning, Implementation and Evaluation in International Health and two or three courses from a list of selective/electives, based on previous experience.  Students then specialize within their chosen discipline and complete an overseas internship, unless waived according to School policy.

Students should refer to the departments of Environmental Health, Epidemiology, Health Behavior or Maternal and Child Health for complete curriculum information in the chosen area of interest.
