UAB Global Health Case Competition

Forty undergraduate and graduate students from across UAB’s campus recently participated in an inaugural global health case competition sponsored by the UAB Sparkman Center for Global Health. Each team consisted of five members, representing at least three different schools with the objective of coming together to solve a real life global health problem emphasizing a multi-disciplinary approach. This year teams were presented with severe acute malnutrition in the Oromiya region of Ethiopia and were tasked with developing feasible recommendations to address this problem.

The second place team received $500 and was comprised of Jennifer Jones, Kruti Gandhi, and Katie Smyrski from the School of Public Health, Nirmal Choradia from the School of Medicine, and Khusboo Jhala from the College of Arts and Sciences.
