Included Costs for UAB Students: Round-trip airfare: Atlanta to Kingston, Jamaica. Round-trip ground transportation: Birmingham to Atlanta, Airport Transfers (to UWI). Airport and airline taxes. Housing at UWI Preston Hall/Double (singles are available for an additional cost). Most meals. Organized social and cultural events. Internet access to course lectures. Course packets, multimedia information, and slides. On-site laboratory and field work equipment. Other supplies & materials. All local transportation to clinical and field sites, including free day in Ocho Rios. Students not departing from Birmingham or not traveling with the group must make their own travel arrangements to Atlanta.
Classes and field experiences will occur August inclusive of the dates chosen. The schedule will allow time for visits to some of the island’s historic and sociocultural sites. Separate travel arrangements can be made in close coordination with our staff at a higher cost to loss of the benefit of group travel arrangements.
Fees should be paid to the Sparkman Center at UAB. A $300 non-refundable deposit and application form is due by April 1, and the remaining balance paid in full by June 15th.
UAB Financial Aid and Scholarships can be applied to this program.
UAB reserves the right to modify or cancel the program.
April 1, 2012 - Early Registration: Application and paid deposit due for reduction of course rate to $2,100.
May 1, 2012 - Regular Registration Deadline: Application and paid deposit due for regular course rate of $2,200 (after May 1, students will be charged a late fee of $100).
June 15, 2012 - Course Registration Deadline. Later enrollments will depend upon available spots.
