Samprit Banerjee received his B.Stat (bachelor’s in statistics ) and his M.Stat (masters in statistics) with concentration in Biostatistics and Data Analysis from the Indian Statistical Institute, Calcutta, India. Currently, Samprit is pursuing a PhD in Biostatistics (UAB) under the guidance of Dr. Nengjun Yi. He is funded by a NIH/NIGMS grant 1R01 GM069430-01A2 (PI: Dr. Nengjun Yi).

Samprit's research interests include statistical genetics, bayesian methods, model selection and MCMC algorithms. His current research includes modeling multiple correlated traits to detect multiple interacting QTL (genome-wide search) for complex traits.

Samprit’s long-term objective is to pursue independent as well as collaborative research in biostatistics, particularly in developing novel statistical solutions to problems in genetics and genomics.
