Benita Davis joined UAB’s Department of Biostatistics-Section on Statistical Genetics (SSG) in September, 2009. She works as a member of the administrative staff for Dr. David B. Allison and the SSG. Additionally, a large portion of her responsibilities involves the coordination of multiple aspects of the postdoctoral program. Davis has an extensive diverse history with UAB. In the late 80s, Davis was a student assistant in the UAB Office of Grants and Contracts Administration. Davis has been an administrative associate for several Chairmen/Directors. She has published articles on various subjects as a Senior Staff Writer and written poetry for UAB publications. Davis also represented UAB as a writer in the Kennedy Center of Performing Arts-Critic’s Institute. Moreover, she was a 2004 member of the BodyLove Radio Drama writers group. Davis was an invited guest actor in the series, playing the role of a psychologist, in episodes on mental health, which she had co-written. Recently, the Youth Violence Project, a four year narrative and documentary culmination that Davis assistant produced, co-wrote, and interviewed subjects in, was showcased at UAB. Davis graduated from UAB with a B.A. in Communication Studies/Communication Management with Honors.
