Marcus A. Guyton, son of Yvonne D. Williams, was born on May 13, 1978 in Birmingham, Alabama. He received his B.S. in Biology/Pre-Med from Alabama A&M University, Normal, Alabama in 2001 and his M.S. in Biology/Microbiology from Alabama A&M University, Normal, Alabama/University of Alabama in Huntsville, Huntsville, Alabama in 2002. In the fall of 2002 he changed Departments to continue his graduate studies leading to a Ph.D. degree in Food Science, with an emphasis in Nutritional Biochemistry/Carcinogenesis. While at Alabama A&M University, he presented his research at IFT (International Food and Technologist conferences in Las Vegas, NV summer 2004 and New Orleans, LA summer 2005) he also presented a portion of his research at AICR/WCRF (American Institute for Cancer Research/World Cancer Research Fund conference in Washington, DC summer 2005).
Marcus was appointed to the School of Public Health as a postdoctoral scholar in the fall of 2006 under the supervision of David B. Allison, Ph.D. in the Department of Biostatistics, School of Public Health. He will examine issues regarding obesity and “Effects of Intentional Weight Loss on Mortality Rate”
