Bertha Hidalgo has a BA in Human Biology from Stanford University and an MPH in Biostatistics and Epidemiology from the University of Southern California. She received her PhD in Epidemiology from the University of Alabama at Birmingham under the mentorship of Dr. Edmond K. Kabagambe. She joined Department of Biostatistics, Section on Statistical Genetics as a Postdoctoral Fellow in April 2012 and will be mentored by Dr. Hemant Tiwari.

Her primary areas of interest are cardiovascular disease, cancer, genetic epidemiology and Latino health. Her training will focus mainly on GWAS analysis, whole genome methylation and RNA-seq analysis.
