I received my PhD degree in system modeling, with specialization in statistical genetics, from Academy of Mathematics and Systems Science, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2006. My PhD research focused on multiple-locus interaction analysis in association studies by case-control designs. Then I joined the Department of Statistics and Probability at Michigan State University as a post-doctoral scholar and worked on designing and modeling SNP-based and gene-based models for genome-wide association studies.

I joined the Section on Statistical Genetics in Department of Biostatistics at University of Alabama at Birmingham in July of 2007. I am currently working on developing statistical models and computational algorithms for genome-wide association studies, and developing haplotype methods for fine mapping of quantitative trait locus in pedigrees.
