Tesfaye Baye Mersha received his Ph.D. from the University of Goettingen, Germany. He joined the Statistical Genetics Section of the Department of Biostatistics at the University of Alabama at Birmingham in August 2005. He is currently applying his genetics background into the application of advanced statistical methodologies in biological discoveries as applied to disease gene localization. Tesfaye is focusing on admixture and association mapping, approaches to ancestry inference, population genetic structure, data mining and functional annotations.
