Nathan E. Wineinger received his Bachelor of Arts degree in mathematics from Grinnell College in 2005. After spending one year of studies at the Center for Statistical Genetics Research at the University of Iowa, Nathan joined the UAB Department of Biostatistics in August 2006.
Nathan was accepted into Ph.D. candidacy in the fall of 2009, proposing the dissertation topic “Joint analysis of SNPs and CNVs”. His current research interests include genomic structural variation and its application to population genetics, haplotype phasing, somatic variation, and association testing – particularly related to cardiovascular phenotypes.
From August 2006 to August 2010 Nathan was supported on the NHLBI T32HL07988 fellowship training grant. In September 2010 he was awarded the Marie and Emmett Carmichael Fund for Graduate Students in Biostatistics scholarship to which he is currently supported.
