Best Student ResearchAbstract Selection
for Entry to the National Delta Omega Student Poster Competition
The UAB Delta Omega Upsilon Chapter will select the best abstract(s) from the SOPH for competition at the national level. The 2012 National Delta Omega Poster Session will showcase the excellent scholarship and research of students in accredited schools and programs of public health. Students selected at the national level will receive a $350.00 cash prize, as well as the opportunity to present their work in a Poster Session during the APHA meeting.
Abstracts due by 5 PM on March 2, 2012
UAB Finalist(s) for the National Competition will be announced on March 16, 2012
Students preparing posters for the Public Health Research Day (April 2, 2012) are also encouraged to submit an abstract of their work to Delta Omega
Only work that is completed or near completion will be considered
The following criteria will be used by the review committee to judge abstracts:
- TOPIC PROMINENCE: Illustrates the importance to public health
- PRESENTATION OBJECTIVES: Realistic, clear, and measurable
- PURPOSE: Subject of proposed topic is clear and of high quality.
- PRACTICE IMPACT: Provides evidence that the academia and practice were necessary for results
- ACADEMIC IMPACT: Topic is significant to the domain to public health academia
- ORIGINALITY: Demonstrates originality and innovation
- TONE: Indicates a working knowledge of operations
- OVERALL: Well written, concise, and effectively outlines and communicates abstract’s scope, context, and rationale.
- WORD COUNT: Maximum of 250 words
