UAB Escort Service is an after-dark service provided upon request to students and employees on the UAB campus. For more information go the UAB Campus Escort Service Information page.

BUILDING ACCESS

The Ryals Building is available to students 24 hours a day, 7 days a week with a Building Access Card or CardKey. It is not necessary to use a cardkey between the hours of 6:30am and 6:00pm, Monday through Friday as the doors are not locked during this time.

Cardkey Readers are located on the Eastern Side and the South Side of the Ryals Building for convenience.

New students are provided the opportunity to purchase a cardkey at orientation for a cost of $10.50.

Students in other schools that may be enrolled in a public health class may obtain access on a term by term basis. These students should bring their cardkey to the Office of Student and Academic Services, Room 120 of the Ryals Building, to obtain the appropriate access. Note that this process could take 24 hours so plan ahead!

Some safety rules to follow:

  • Do not prop the doors of the building open
  • Do not let others share your cardkey
  • Do not leave your cardkey in plain view of others unattended
  • Do not bend your cardkey as it will malfunction
  • Do not place your cardkey in an area that will be hot as it will malfunction
