Alumna of the Year 2009 - Stan McDuffie

Stan McDuffie was selected as the 2009 UAB School of Public Health Alumnus of the Year, which is one of the highest honors our School can bestow upon its graduates.  The award recognizes an alumnus who has upheld the School’s mission of promoting health and preventing disease and who also supports the School through interaction with its programs and projects.

From the time he graduated in 2002 from the Department of Health Care Organization and Policy, Stan maintained his connections with the School.  His key interest was working with students on career development issues.  He was an annual career seminar presenter, speaking to students about public health career considerations.  He was also a star recruiter of our students and graduates as he has paved the way for more than 30 student interns and employees to join CareFusion MedMined Services.

Stan has been instrumental in bringing SPH faculty and CareFusion personnel together to discuss possible research collaborations.   He has also served on various school committees, most recently involving our school’s reaccreditation process.

Stan's career truly embodies the mission of the School to "develop, teach and apply knowledge to promote health and prevent disease" through his application of public health principles in the work he does for CareFusion MedMined Services.  He is a valued member of our School family, combining his education with his experience and passion for the health, safety and well-being of thousands of patients in the United States through the work he does with CareFusion MedMined Services.  All the while, he has supported the School through his extensive interactions with our students, graduates, faculty and staff.
