2017 SEC Entrepreneurial Pitch Competition

We would like to recognize and congradulate two of our AU MISE Graduate Students whom won third place in the SEC Entrepreneurial Pitch Competition hosted by the University of Florida. The team is composed of:

Rong Huangfu, MISE, 3rd Year Ph.D. Candidate, Industrial & Systems Engineering (extramurally supported),

Mengdie Chen, MBA, 1st Year Masters Student, Industrial & Systems Engineering,

Bob Granzow, MS, 2nd Year Ph.D. Candidate, Industrial & Systems Engineering (NIOSH supported),

This competition originated from the success of a similar event held at the 2015 SECU Symposium in Atlanta focused on Entrepreneurship, Innovation, and Creativity. The entrepreneurship center directors from each SEC school agreed to continue the event and received support from the SEC and this marked the first competition hosted at an university (Auburn will host in 2019). Each SEC school, with the exception of Vanderbilt, sent their champion entrepreneurship team to compete. The teams went through three rounds of pitching. In the end, Auburn finished third. This was a great accomplishment as the team was competing against teams from other schools who had licensed technology from Nasa and/or their university and in some cases already had sales.
