Max Richard, MPH


Max Richard currently is the Assistant Vice President for the UAB Occupational Health and Safety Program, a program he initiated in 1979. He has 44 years experience in the field of occupational and environmental health and safety; and has held similar positions at the University of Maryland and Tulane University.  Mr. Richard was one of the original staff as an aquatic biologist for the Alabama Water Improvement Commission which is now known as the Alabama Department of Environmental Management.   He is an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Environmental Health Sciences, UAB School of Public Health. He has served in the capacity of biological, radiological and chemical safety director(s) at other institutions and previously represented UAB for the Howard Hughes Medical Institute laboratory safety program.  Max has approximately 10 publications in his field and has conducted numerous presentations at many professional meetings.  He holds a BS Degree in biological sciences from St Bernard College and Masters in Public Health from Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine.
