Michelle V. Fanucchi, PhD

Associate Professor

Dr. Fanucchi was raised in Minnesota and received her Bachelor of Arts from the College of Saint Scholastica in Duluth, MN.  She received her PhD in Pharmacology & Toxicology from the University of California at Davis. Her research mentor was Dr. Charles G. Plopper and her dissertation was titled "Naphthalene Cytotoxicity in Immature Clara Cells".  Dr. Fanucchi then became a  postdoctoral fellow in Environmental and Toxicologic Pathology with Dr. Jack R. Harkema at Michigan State University.  She moved back to California to join the faculty of the School of Veterinary Medicine, University of California at Davis. 

In 2007, Dr. Fanucchi joined the Department of Environmental Health Sciences, School of Public Health, University of Alabama at Birmingham.  She is currently the departmental Chair.  In addition, Dr. Fanucchi is the Director for the Pathobiology & Molecular Medicine (PBMM) Theme of the Graduate Biomedical Sciences doctoral program at UAB.

Dr. Fanucchi is currently a part-time faculty member teaching online courses for the department.
