Sonny Callahan Endowed Scholars Program:

Mariel Parman-
“I believe in empowering people to address health disparities in their communities.
I am most interested in obesity and chronic disease prevention in low income and minority communities in the South.”

Kimberly Phillips-
“I am interested in the health of marginalized populations. My long-term goals are to create health
interventions that help such populations in Jamaica, such as the inner city youth or the homeless”

Erin Schmale-
“I chose a career in public health because I want to use my microbiology degree outside the laboratory.
I want to help people, and I want to see that directly, something that would be harder to experience as a microbiologist in a lab.”
