Mikako received her B.Sc. and M.Sc. degree in physics from Waseda University in Japan. She worked at a medical organization in Birmingham as a web master from 1999 to 2003.

Currently, she is working at the Section on Statistical Genetics, Nutrition Obesity Research Center, Office of Energetics and Targeted Metabolomics and Proteomics Laboratory.
