Best Student ResearchAbstract Selection
for Entry to the National Delta Omega Student Poster Competition

The UAB Delta Omega Upsilon Chapter will select the best abstract(s) from the SOPH for competition at the national level. The 2012 National Delta Omega Poster Session will showcase the excellent scholarship and research of students in accredited schools and programs of public health. Students selected at the national level will receive a $350.00 cash prize, as well as the opportunity to present their work in a Poster Session during the APHA meeting.

Congratulations to the following students who are the winners of UAB SOPH Delta Omega Poster Session.

Rank 1: Divvy K Upadhyay (HCOP) – “Giving back to the community: Dissemination of results in a community based participatory research study on Diabetes in Alabama"

Rank 2: Matthew Loop (BST) - "Air particulate matter and cognitive decline: a prospective cohort study"

Rank 3: Amelia K. Boehme (EPI) - "Do Black Women with Acute Ischemic Stroke have More Severe Strokes with Worse Outcomes?’"

A total of ten abstracts were submitted for 2012 Delta Omega Competition. The abstracts were assigned to faculty based on topic and focus area. Each abstract was separately evaluated by two faculties and an average score for each was calculated. Again, congratulations to the winners!
