June 17, 2013.  The Gerontological Society of America (GSA) Council recently awarded Fellow status by unanimous vote to Julie L. Locher, PhD, through the Behavioral and Social Sciences Section. Dr. Locher is Associate Director for Enrichment at UAB’s Nutrition Obesity Research Center (NORC); Director of the Translational Nutrition and Aging Research Program at the Comprehensive Center for Healthy Aging; and Associate Professor of Medicine and Public Health in the Division of Gerontology, Geriatrics, and Palliative Care.
